Salary                  £60,000 – £65,000 + package

The Role

After a series of project wins an exciting opportunity has arisen at one of UK’s largest main contractors. They are looking to recruit a Design Manager to work on a hospital refurbishment.

A highly successful company working on some of the UK’s most prestigious construction projects with an annual turnover more than £2bn and over 2000 employees nationwide.

They cover a range of sectors including Healthcare, Pharmaceutical, Education, Commercial, blue lights, custodial, Data centres and Distribution.

The initial projects you would be working on are healthcare refurbishment projects with total value up to £25m, experience working on refurbishment and Healthcare projects previously is essential.

Key Accountabilities will include:

• Manage the proposals
• Produce and negotiate the project specific designer agreements scope of works and the design management plan, ensuring they are agreed and fully understood by all parties
• Ensure the project design is reviewed, mitigating Health & Safety issues
• Produce & manage a realistic design programme & information required schedule satisfying design, procurement & construction requirements
• Provide input into the design team PDR’s
• Support the implementation of Continuous Improvement programmes and innovation.

Candidate Experience

• The successful individual will have worked for a main contractor or as lead Architect on fit-out or refurbishment projects previously.
• Healthcare experience or similar government frameworks projects would be preferred but aren’t essential.
• The individual will have been the lead Design Manager or Architect on projects previously and will have experience taking projects from inception through to completion.
• Excellent IT Skills, Numeracy and good written communications skills are required.
